Fritz von Hippel

Fritz Richard Ferdinand von Hippel (born April 28, 1897 in Rostock , † January 8, 1991 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German lawyer and legal philosopher .

Life

Fritz von Hippel, son of Robert and brother of Ernst and Arthur Robert von Hippel , began studying law at the University of Göttingen after graduating from high school , which he obtained in 1922 with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed. Subsequently he was employed in the Reich Ministry of Justice from 1924 to 1927 and as a Prussian magistrate and district judge from 1926 to 1933.

In 1930 Fritz von Hippel completed his habilitation as a private lecturer at the University of Frankfurt , where in 1933 he was assigned the extraordinary position for civil law . In 1941 Fritz von Hippel moved to the chair for civil law, civil procedural law , legal philosophy and international private law at the University of Marburg and finally in 1951 at the University of Freiburg , which he held until his retirement in 1965.

Fritz von Hippel - he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel in 1967 and the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1972 - died on January 8, 1991 at the age of 93 in Freiburg im Breisgau.

In his academic work, Fritz von Hippel mainly devoted himself to the subject of legal dogmatics in civil and civil procedural law.
