The Georg Fritz Meier GmbH & Co. KG is a German company based in Großhelfendorf , a district of Aying in southeastern district of Munich .

history

Georg Fritzmeier

The master saddler Georg Fritz Meier made in 1926 in Großhelfendorf independently by harnesses made for oxen and horses and repaired. After the first tractors were in use in the 1920s, from 1932 onwards he had the first inquiries about seat cushions for the unsprung iron seats of the first tractor units at the time. After his sons Ruppert and Georg had also worked with him in the company, the companies Eicher and Fendt first asked , and shortly afterwards Schlüter , asked for direct delivery. Around 1939 Fritzmeier developed the first tarpaulin roof together with Schlüter . The Second World War prevented larger production.

In 1945, Ruppert and Georg Fritzmeier began to develop the tops, also for retrofitting older tractors. With the beginning of the wave of mechanization from the 1950s onwards, more and more manufacturers installed the Fritzmeier tarpaulin roofs instead of the massive roofs previously offered as the only alternative. At an early stage, the company patented its essential components such as a rubber-mounted parallelogram suspension or the hinged front window, which was first offered in 1958. The side walls could be closed with window tarpaulins and tarpaulin aprons prevented the penetration of splash water. At times over 50,000 tops were delivered each year. Georg Fritzmeier jun. died in 1962. Ruppert Fritzmeier then continued to run the company together with his father.

Fritzmeier became a leading manufacturer of roll bars for tractors. These were compulsory for new machines from 1970 and also for old tractors from January 1, 1977. From 1970, the first convertible tops with an integrated roll-over bar were on offer. The market changed and there was an increasing demand for integrated, factory-assembled cabs. The sale of the "flutter covers" dropped sharply. Fritzmeier began developing cabs for tractors at an early stage. From 1975 the development of cabs for construction machines began. In 1990 production was stopped after 750,000 tops.

In 1971 Fritzmeier Composite was founded as a separate division to respond to the increasing importance of plastics (new materials) in industry.

All-plastic skis from Fritzmeier

In 1975 Fritzmeier developed and manufactured the first synthetic ski for Rosi Mittermaier . The production of skis was stopped again in 1980. Fritzmeier co-founded the company Mistral , today Boards & More , in 1977 and manufactured surfboards . The research work with plastics and the excursion of the Fritzmeier Group into the world of sports led to the establishment of m1 Sporttechnik in 1990, which specializes in the construction and sale of carbon bicycles .

The Fritz Meier Technology was founded in 1997 to complete services in metalworking offer. Fritzmeier CABS maintains a joint venture in India and cooperations in Asia, North and South America. This led to the formation of the CAB Alliance, an association of four vehicle cabin manufacturers worldwide.

In 2009 the Fritzmeier Group founded Fritzmeier Umwelttechnik . The focus of this company is, among other things, on phosphate recovery and the development of sustainable technologies around smart farming . and biotechnology (B2B)

The Fritzmeier Group employs around 2,300 people at 14 production and development locations in 9 countries. The Fritzmeier Group is a supplier for original equipment manufacturers .
