history

Emergence

In March 2017, Mnet announced the broadcast of a new TV show called "Idol School". The concept of the show was reminiscent of that of a school in which the competitors were trained in other subjects in addition to singing and dance lessons. In addition, teams were formed that had to rehearse and perform different songs in competition against each other. Using a combined evaluation system by trainers and online voting, from the fourth episode onwards, several female competitors were removed from the last ranking positions from the show until the nine members of the new girl group were determined at the end of the eleventh episode: Roh Ji-sun, Song Ha-young , Lee Sae-rom, Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-gyung, Park Ji-won, Lee Seo-yeon, Baek Ji-heon and Jang Gyu-ri.

After the show ended, Han Sung-soo, CEO of Pledis Entertainment , became the producer of the new girl group and took on the further training of the group until their debut. The preparations were also filmed and broadcast weekly as “Fromis's Room” on Mnet and via Facebook Live.

On November 30, the group released the pre-release single Glass Shoes ( 유리 구두 ) . The day before, Fromis 9 performed at the Mnet Asian Music Awards , where she presented Glass Shoes live for the first time.

2018 – today: Debut with To.Heart

On January 8, 2018, January 24 was announced as the date for the official debut of Fromis 9. The group released the mini album To that day . Heart together with the single To Heart .

"Produce 48" is a follow-up to "Produce 101", in which the girl group IOI was formed. In the 2018 edition, 48 South Korean trainees and 48 Japanese idols from AKB 48 and their sister groups fought for a place in the new girl group. Gyuri dropped out on rank 25 shortly before the end of the show and did not become a member of the new girl group IZ * ONE .

On June 5th, the second mini-album To was released. Day together with the single DKDK ( 두근 두근 ) .

On September 10, it was announced that Fromis 9 were preparing for a comeback as a full group in early October. In a press release on September 21, it was announced that the group was no longer under contract with Stone Music Entertainment, but with the newly founded label Off The Record Entertainment.

On October 10, Fromis 9 released the single album From.9 together with the single Love Bomb . The album also includes new versions of the tracks DKDK and 22nd Century Girl , on which all nine members can be heard.
