Frozen is a Spanish black / death metal band, founded in Cádiz . It is named after a song by the band Dissection .
biography
The band was founded in 2001 with Markdarkness (vocals and guitar), Lord Tyrant (bass) and Djevel (drums). Rehearsals began the following year and a demo was recorded in September, which remained unpublished.
The first concerts and changes in the line-up followed in 2003. After Demonized joined the band as guitarist in July, the first demo Frozen Souls of the Unlight was completed a month later .
There were further personnel changes over the next two years. Djevel was fired and Lord Tyrant left the band for personal reasons. Carnage joined the band as vocalist and bassist, and in September 2005 the second demo Consuming All Creation was released. In this constellation, concerts and festivals were played in Spain the following year.
In April 2007 the two-track EP Evoking Shadows Past was completed. It can be freely downloaded from Frozen's myspace or website. One month later, but with a six-month delay, the first MCD The Unborn was released. It contains four pieces and has received positive reviews. The band brought The Unborn more attention from radio stations and also on the Internet. According to their own statements, Frozen was known at the time as "The Spanish band with the potentially greatest future in Black Metal" .
With Downfall Records a label could be found in 2009, which The Unborn re-released and sells. The album has a playing time of 35 minutes and contains the complete MCD as well as the two tracks from the EP Evoking Shadows Past as bonus tracks .
Style and Influences
According to their own statement, the band is based on Dissection and especially their album Storm of the Light's Bane :
"We're all big fans of this band's musical legacy, but we're trying to find our own style."
As further influences, Frozen name classic (heavy) metal and above all Swedish metal bands such as Sacramentum , Kaamos , Repugnant , Dark Funeral , Necrophobic , Watain , Tribulation and Nifelheim .
