The Frutiger AG , based in Thun is a Swiss construction company . It provides services in building construction and civil engineering as well as in selected construction-related specialties. As a full-service provider, the group develops and implements real estate projects. The Frutiger Group consists of 24 companies. The family company, now run by the fourth generation of the family by Luc and Thomas Frutiger, employed around 2,869 people in 2018 and generated sales of 887 million Swiss francs in 2018.

history

The company was founded by Johann Frutiger in 1869 and expanded to include a carpentry and joinery in 1877 . As a building contractor in the Bernese Oberland , Frutiger was involved in the tourist and transport development of the Lake Thun region and at times employed over 1,000 workers. With his company he built, among other things, the right bank Thunerseestrasse and the Grimselstrasse , various railways (including Thunersee-Beatenberg-Bahn , Niesenbahn , parts of the Brünigbahn , Zweisimmen-Lenk-Bahn ), water supplies , hotels as well as schools and private houses. He was also responsible for river corrections on the Kander and Simme .

At the beginning of 2008, Frutiger AG took over the business activities and 180 employees of the Marazzi construction company from Losinger Construction AG , a sub-division of the Marazzi Holding that Losinger took over in the summer of 2006 . With the takeover of Kwartex Holding in October 2008, retroactively to January 2008 , the Frutiger Group expanded its activities to include cutting and separating concrete , dismantling and deep drilling to southern Germany and Alsace. In 2018, the Frutiger Group comprised 2,869 employees in 24 companies, 600 of whom worked at the headquarters in Thun.
