qualification
At this World Cup, the host (like the defending champion) was automatically set for the finals for the first time, so France did not have to play any qualifying matches.
Contingent
The selection was made by the Sélectionneur , Gaston Barreau , who was entrusted with this task by the Fédération Française de Football . There was no national coach in France for a long time; however, Barreau was a coach for this finals with the ex-national goalkeeper Maurice Cottenet.
