The Fujifilm Finepix S2 Pro (short: Fuji S2 or just S2 ) is a digital SLR camera manufactured by Fujifilm . It is the successor of the Fuji S1 Pro , which appeared in 2000, and was released about three weeks before the Nikon D100 on January 30, 2002. In contrast to the S1 Pro based on the Nikon F60 , the S2 Pro was built using parts of the Nikon F80 . This makes it compatible with a wide range of Nikon accessories .
General
The exterior of the S2 Pro is similar to the F80 from Nikon. The only real change is the power supply for the camera, unlike many other DSLRs (digital single-lens reflex cameras), it is powered by standard Mignon batteries or AA rechargeable batteries .
Since these were not yet powerful enough when the S2 was released, the S2 provides two additional CR123A batteries, which are also used in the F80 and are mainly used to drive the autofocus . In emergency mode, the S2 can also be operated without the CR123A batteries. With the Mignon batteries that are now available beyond the 2200 Ah mark, the camera can now only be operated with Mignon batteries without restriction.
The connection type of the S2 is the Nikon F bayonet , which means that a large number of lenses from both Nikon and third-party manufacturers can be connected.
Technical specifications
The heart of the S2 is a 6 megapixel super CCD sensor from Fuji. By interpolating the special honeycomb structure of the sensor, the camera can output 12 megapixel images. Otherwise, the S2 offers all the usual functions of a DSLR: program function, automatic shutter, aperture priority and a manual mode. The S2's program mode is therefore primarily used to create sharp and well-balanced images, based on additional exposure programs such as B. "Sports recording", "Night portrait" etc. were omitted.
As a measuring system, the S2 offers the usual spot, center-weighted and matrix metering and a small built-in flash unit with guide number 12. Setting options are “exposure to the closest object”, “object in the center of the viewfinder” and memory function for the autofocus.
successor
Production and sales of the S2 were discontinued. The successor model is the Fuji S3 Pro , which has a 12 megapixel chip and offers some improvements such as a built-in portrait format shutter release. In addition, the S3 Pro is only operated with Mignon batteries. Another successor model, the Fuji S5 Pro , is now on the market.
