Coordinates: 68 ° 59 ′ S , 39 ° 40 ′ E
The Fujirenna ( Norwegian , Japanese ふ じ 海底 谷 Fuji Kaitei-koku , German 'Fuji-Unterseeboot-Tal' ) is a glacial deep-sea channel in Ongul Sound off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies at a depth of 600 m and extends northward from Langhovde Glacier between the east bank of Lützow-Holm Bay and the Flatvær archipelago .
Japanese scientists mapped them using sonar measurements made between 1959 and 1974. They named the channel in 1989 after the icebreaker Fuji used for it . Scientists at the Norwegian Polar Institute translated this name into Norwegian in 1990.
