The Specialist Group Emergency Supply and Emergency Repair (FGr N) is a specialist group of the THW for tasks in the field of emergency supply and emergency repair. The FGr N is designed as a link between other specialist groups.

The core tasks of the emergency supply and emergency repair specialist group include:

  • Working on and on the water
  • Illuminating a point of use or an area / route
  • Electrical work (light up to approx. 13 kVA and medium approx. 50 kVA)
  • Pumping work (in the range of services between the rescue group and the water damage / pumping specialist group )
  • Transport of dangerous goods (land) below 1000 points according to ADR
  • Transporting goods on land
  • Transporting goods up to 500 kg on the water
  • Transport support for emergency services from other THW sub-units
  • Transporting small groups of people on the water
  • Emergency housing
  • Emergency supply
  • Implementation of technical assistance

The list of the specialist group is part of the THW 2018 framework concept . This stipulates that at least 75% of all local associations should have such a specialist group. As a rule, the 2nd rescue group of a technical train is transferred to a Fgr N. The establishment of the FGr N began in 2019.

Vehicles / equipment

The framework concept of the THW provides for the following vehicles for emergency supply and emergency repairs:

  • Multi-purpose equipment trolley (MzGw), which is currently still being procured (as of June 2020)
  • Multifunctional trailer (12 t)
  • Trailer with emergency power system (approx. 50 kVA)
  • small boat with accessories
  • Forklift
