Furcraea stratiotes is a species of the genus Furcraea in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae). The specific epithet stratiotes comes from the Greek , means 'warrior' and probably refers to the reinforced leaves, which in outline are similar to those of the crab claws ( Stratiotes ).

description

Furcraea stratiotes grows stemless or the rosettes are not stem-forming. The approximately 50 linear-lanceolate leaves taper to a point and narrow to 1.5 to 2 centimeters at their base. Your glauke leaf blade is 35 to 53 inches long and 2.5 to 3.5 inches wide and has an attached tip. The leaf margin between the paired, 1.5 to 3 millimeter long teeth is straight. The marginal teeth are 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters (rarely up to 4.5 centimeters) apart.

The paniculate, bulbil bearing inflorescence reaches a height of up to 2.8 meters. The tapering, entire bracts are much shorter than the flower stalks . The single flowers are 22 millimeters long. Your whitish tepals are 14 millimeters long and 6 millimeters wide. The inner tepals are slightly wider. The stamens are 1.5 millimeters long. The ovary has a length of 8 millimeters and is 2 millimeters wide. The stylus is 5 millimeters long.

Fruits and seeds are unknown.
