Felix English (born October 11, 1992 in Brighton , United Kingdom ) is an Irish cyclist .
Athletic career
Felix English is active in road and track cycling . As a junior he won five British national titles until he decided in 2010 to start for Ireland, his parents' home country. At the UEC European Rail Championships in Pruszków in 2010 , the then 18-year-old English caused a stir, as he, as the driver with the worst qualifying time in the first round of the sprint competition, defeated the multiple Olympic champion and fastest in time, Chris Hoy , because he had been inattentive . In the next round, however, English was eliminated.
At a track meeting in Apeldoorn in September 2010, English set a new Irish record in the 1000 meter time trial for juniors with 1: 07.9 minutes . At the UCI Road World Championships 2011 in Copenhagen he started in the U23 class in road races and in the individual time trial . In 2012 he won the fourth stage of the Irish Sea Tour of the North and became Irish champion in the criterion . In 2016 he finished third overall in the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series . At the UEC European Rail Championships in 2016 , he finished fifth in the scratch .
In 2017, Felix English won the two-man team race together with Mark Downey at the fourth round of the Track Cycling World Cup in Los Angeles and was Irish champion in the Omnium . In 2019 he won the scratch race at the Track World Cup in Glasgow .
