Futoshi Nishiya

Futoshi Nishiya ( Japanese 西屋太志 Nishiya Futoshi , * 1982 in Mitsugi , Hiroshima Prefecture ; † 18th July 2019 in Fushimi-ku , Kyoto ) was a Japanese character designer , animator and Anime - Director .

life and career

After graduating from vocational school , Nishiya started working at the animation studio Kyōto Animation . In 2003 he worked as a key artist for the anime series Inu Yasha by the Sunrise studio . Three years later he worked as a director for the first time. He directed the tenth episode of the anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu . In 2009 he was selected as the animation director for the second season.

In 2011 Nishiya first worked as a character designer for the series Nichijō . For the anime series Hyōka , Futoshi Nishiya created the character designs in 2012. In 2016, Nishiya was the character designer for the anime film A Silent Voice and was nominated for an AnimaniA Award in 2019 .

Nishiya was killed in an arson attack on the Kyōto Animation studio .
