Gábor Tarkövi

Gábor Tarkövi (* 1969 in Esztergom , People's Republic of Hungary ) is a Hungarian trumpeter and has been professor of trumpet at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2018 .

Life

Gábor Tarkövi comes from a Danube Swabian family of musicians. He received his first trumpet lessons at the age of nine from his father István Tarkövi. He grew up in Csolnok and attended the Judge János Music High School in Győr . From 1987 he studied with György Geiger at the Franz Liszt College of Education in Budapest and from 1990 with Frigyes Varasdy at the Franz Liszt Music Academy . Tarkövi also influenced the music by György Kurtág and Hans Gansch .

In 1991 he worked as deputy solo trumpeter with the Württemberg Philharmonic in Reutlingen and from 1994 as solo trumpeter with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra . In 1999 he moved to the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , five years later, in 2004, finally to the Berlin Philharmonic . He played there until 2019, during which time he was also a lecturer at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. Tarkövi is also active in the field of chamber music , including a. as a member of the brass ensembles Pro Brass , Austrian Brass Connection, Wien-Berlin Brass Quintett and Berlin Philharmonic Brass Trio.

Tarkövi appears worldwide as a soloist, also as a guest soloist with well-known orchestras. He is also holding master classes all over the world. Since 2018 he has been professor for trumpet at the Berlin University of the Arts .
