Goosebumps was a German music group from the 1980s .

Your texts contain a lot of social criticism and refer to environmental problems . The song Karl the Beetle indirectly addresses the issue of forest dieback, which was very topical in the 1980s. In contrast to bands from the Neue Deutsche Welle , goose bumps stood more for the politically oriented zeitgeist.

history

The band emerged from members of the Cologne group Satin Whale , which disbanded in 1981. The remaining members of the band created goosebumps. The group included Wolfgang Hieronymi (born January 8, 1956; † 1986), Dieter Roesberg (born April 21, 1954) and Gerald Dellmann (born August 8, 1954), all three of whom were editors in the specialist journal Musikmagazin . Dellmann was managing director of MM-Musik-Media-Verlag until the beginning of June 2014. Dieter Roesberg continues to work as chief editor and publisher of the guitar & bass magazine at MM-Musik-Media-Verlag.

Goosebumps published the critical environmental song Karl the Beetle in 1983 and were able to achieve a hit straight away. The following singles butterflies are no longer there and Johanna the chicken could no longer position themselves accordingly. The album that was released at the same time with all the recordings did not make it into the charts. Johanna das Huhn was newly accepted by the De Höhner group in 2009 and has become one of NABU's signature songs .

The follow-up album Moments also failed to gain acceptance. Before the group disappeared from the scene in late 1984, they released two more singles from that album that year. One of them, cars , became at least a radio hit.

In the studio, the band was supported by musicians like Jürgen Fritz (from the band Triumvirat ), Curt Cress , Dieter Petereit (from the band Passport ) and Günter Gebauer . Christian Blüm , who later became the drummer of the band Brings , played drums in live performances .
