from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter Petereit is a German jazz and fusion bassist and music producer.

Career

Petereit was particularly active in the 1970s and 1980s. He became known from 1977 as a bass guitarist with Passport , where he also recorded the Tatort theme melody on drums with Klaus Doldinger and Willy Ketzer . In the mid-seventies he also worked with Curt Cress , but also with the Frankfurt quintet Voices and Walter Strerath's piano trio, and can also be heard on several Triumvirat albums from 1977 , initially on Pompeii . Petereit was often booked for recordings, for example by Stefan Waggershausen , Herbert Grönemeyer , Ulla Meinecke , in the jazz area from Dexter Gordon or Barney Kessel to hits for Boney M. or Howard Carpendale .

In the 1980s he made recordings with Trio , Bobby Kimball ( Toto ) and Meat Loaf . The band Goose Bumps was also supported by Petereit at some of their performances.

From the beginning of the 1980s (demonstrably from 1983 at the latest and until 1986 or possibly even longer) he was a regular author in the specialist journal Musikmagazin , where he presented bass workshops. In 1994 and 2000 he published bass textbooks. He also produces jingles for radio stations.
