Gökçe (kurd. Selax ) is a small town in the district of Kızıltepe in the Turkish province of Mardin . Gökçe is located on a plain in southeastern Anatolia at 520 m above sea level, about 14 km east of Kızıltepe.
Gökçe has had Belediye status since 1992 . The original name of the village is Selah or Salah. This name is already documented in the 16th century. In 1990, 3,148 people lived in Gökçe. In 2009 the village had 7,050 inhabitants. The railway line runs near the city. Gökçe is characterized by agriculture. The inhabitants live from agriculture and animal husbandry. Grain, cotton and maize are grown.
Summers in Gökçe are hot, winters humid and mild. The annual rainfall averages 350 mm.
