Gosta B. Ihde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gösta-Bernd Ihde (mostly as Gösta B. Ihde ; born March 29, 1938 in Rostock ) is a German business economist and former university lecturer specializing in transport management and logistics .

Life

In 1953 Ihde fled the GDR . In 1959 he made his Abitur in Goslar . Ihde completed his studies of business administration in Marburg , Saarbrücken and Göttingen in 1966 with a doctorate under Wolfgang Lücke in Göttingen. In 1969 he received his habilitation there. Ihde then worked for a year in a service company before he accepted the call from the University of Mannheim to the "Chair for Transport Management" in 1970 . Ihde retired in 2003.

Ihde is married and has a son. He was a reserve officer, most recently in the rank of colonel .

Teaching

In Mannheim, Ihde developed a function- related approach to logistics in the areas of distribution logistics , production logistics and procurement logistics . The reallocation of the chair in 1971 to "Chair for General Business Administration and Logistics, especially Transport Management" made this movement from institutional transport management to the integration of logistics as a cross-sectional function in all operational areas clear. Until then, the term "logistics" in Germany only referred to military supplies . The broader understanding of logistics that is common today only introduced Ihde into the German economic debate based on the US model. His focus was on the analysis of logistics as a system and decision- oriented process optimization .

The lecture cycle "Logistics" over three semesters comprised macro-logistics, micro-logistics and planning of logistics processes. Under the term macrologistics , Ihde taught the understanding of the connections between economic trends such as specialization and globalization and the decreasing depth of added value, with increasingly intensive use of the transport infrastructure and the importance of transport policy for the division of labor between the transport modes. He saw infrastructure as a competitive advantage in international comparison. Micro- logistics aspects of logistics and industry topics were dealt with under micro- logistics. While planning logistical processes , he taught operations research tools and procedures for optimizing many microeconomic issues. In the subject Business Administration taught Ihde corporate management and corporate strategy. He showed the connections between competition, size savings, specialization, globalization and depth of added value. Through his lecture series and through his literature, he made it clear that logistics have to make a direct contribution to the specialization of the economy and global development. The micrologistic / microeconomic setup and process alignment must go hand in hand with the decreasing depth of added value in order to be able to achieve competitive advantages. Conceptually, this systemic approach also includes supply chain management .

Ihde was also a pioneer in spare parts logistics .

He was twice dean of the Faculty of Business Administration. After his retirement in 2003, Stefan Minner succeeded the Mannheim chair.

Memberships in committees

Ihde is a founding and honorary member of the Federal Logistics Association and was a board member of this association from 1978 to 1999. He was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development . Until 2002 he held various supervisory and advisory board mandates, including a. at Rheinmetall AG , Duravit AG and on the committees of the Röchling Group.
