Götz Harbsmeier

Götz Harbsmeier (born August 13, 1910 in Weißenburg ; † June 28, 1979 ) was a German Protestant theologian and abbot of the Bursfelde monastery .

Life

Harbsmeier studied from 1930 Protestant theology in Göttingen and Marburg , where he a. a. Was assistant to Rudolf Bultmann . In autumn 1935 he passed the theological exam and became pastor of the Confessing Church in Wilhelmshaven . Until 1943 he took part in the Second World War. After 1945 he was given a pastor's post in Reiffenhausen . In 1952 he became a lecturer in Protestant religious teaching at the University of Education in Lüneburg , and in 1962 professor for practical theology at the University of Göttingen , where he also served as a university preacher from 1965. Harbsmeier was a member of the Hanover regional synod and from 1971 abbot of the Bursfelde monastery .

There is an estate in the Tübingen University Library (shelf number: Mn 56).
