Götz Teutsch

Götz Teutsch (born July 14, 1941 in Sibiu , Transylvania ) is a German cellist.

Life

Götz Teutsch is the great-grandson of Georg Daniel Teutsch and the great-nephew of Friedrich Teutsch . He attended schools in Reps and Kronstadt and the Schäßburg mountain school . He studied with Dimitrie Gheorghe Dinicu (1898–1964) and Radu Aldulescu at the “ Ciprian Porumbescu ” Conservatory , from which the National Music University of Bucharest emerged . Later he was with Enrico Mainardi and Karl Richter . The Bucharest Radio Symphony Orchestra selected him as solo cellist. Recorded by the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1970 and solo cellist since 1976, he played under the chief conductors Herbert von Karajan , Claudio Abbado and Sir Simon Rattle . The 12 cellists were founded by him, among others. He performs worldwide as a chamber musician and soloist. He has dealt extensively with the performance practice of early music and studied viola da gamba . He left the Philharmonic and (as the last founding member) the 12 cellists at the beginning of the 2006/2007 season. With 45 programs so far, he has been designing the Philharmonic Salon in the Chamber Music Hall of the Kulturforum Berlin since 2000 . He is married to the Salzburg pianist Cordelia Höfer-Teutsch .
