Götz von Tschirnhaus

Götz von Tschirnhaus (* 1940 ) is a former German racing driver .

At Porsche

After an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, Götz von Tschirnhaus worked as a sales representative for a truck company. From 1969 he was a sales representative at the Porsche Center Hamburg and in 1987 moved to Porsche in Frankfurt . In the company founded by Walter Glöckler , he rose to become managing director. In 2001 he returned to Hamburg and was managing director of the Raffay Porsche Zentrum Eiffestrasse until his retirement in 2012.

Racing career

Between 1976 and 1984 Götz von Tschirnhaus competed in the two endurance races at the Nürburgring and at Le Mans at irregular intervals . His preferred racing partner was Dieter Schornstein , with whom he made his debut at the Nürburgring in 1976 in a Porsche 911 Carrera RS in 15th place . In 1977 he finished the 1000 km race in fifth overall and in 1979 in fourth.

He competed three times at Le Mans, with the best result in 1979 when he was seventh overall. In 1980 he finished eighth and celebrated a class win.
