The Göyçay ( Azerbaijani for "blue river") is a left tributary of the Kura tributary Türyançay in Azerbaijan .
The Göyçay rises on the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus . It initially flows in a south-westerly direction, later in a predominantly south-westerly direction. At the town of the same name, Göyçay , he reaches the Kura-Aras lowland . Some of its water is diverted for irrigation purposes . The river is canalised in the lower reaches. Finally, it reaches 10 kilometers north of zardab district the Turyan.
