Günter Baumgartner

Günter Baumgartner (born September 1, 1924 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † August 11, 1991 in Zurich ) was a German neurologist or neurophysiologist .

Life

Günter Baumgartner studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1952 from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1961 he received his habilitation there. In 1967 Baumgartner became associate professor and in 1970 full professor of neurology at the University of Zurich . From 1967 until his death he headed the neurological university clinic and polyclinic . From 1980 to 1983 he was President of the Swiss Neurological Society . In 1981 he received the Otto Naegeli Prize . He had been a member of the Leopoldina since 1985 .
