Career
As a native of Berlin, Günter Drews began his football career late at SC Mariendorf, which later merged with Mariendorfer BC to form Mariendorfer SV 06. From there he moved to BFC Preussen.
Drews made his Bundesliga debut for Bayer 04 Leverkusen on March 5, 1985 when he came on for Falko Götz in the 89th minute in the 3-1 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt . His first Bundesliga goal was two years later, in a 2-1 home win against VfL Bochum on May 2, 1987. After 46 games for Bayer, he moved to league rivals Hannover 96 in the summer of 1987 . Here he played 43 times in two years and scored eight goals. After relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1989, Drews went to 1. FC Nuremberg . Here, however, he could not prevail and played only 23 games until 1992.

After successfully qualifying for the regional league , he played twelve games in the new division in the 94/95 season . In 1995 he moved to SpVgg Bayreuth.
One of the greatest successes in Drews' career, who played a total of 112 Bundesliga games and scored ten goals, was the 2-0 final victory at the U-16 European Football Championship in 1984 .
Until the end of 2009 Günter Drews coached the A-youth and the 2nd men's team of TSV 04 Feucht . Since the end of 2010 he has been training the SK Lauf A2 youth team.
