Günter Herlt

Günter Herlt (* 18 June 1933 in Berlin ) is a German author and former commentator of the GDR television (DFF).

The son of a worker completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and carpenter after attending primary school from 1947 to 1950 . He then studied at the University of Architecture in Weimar . From 1954 to 1957 he was a reporter and editor at the radio studio in Neubrandenburg. During this activity he joined the SED in 1955 . From 1957 to 1961, Herlt was first a reporter and then director of the Schwerin broadcaster . He then worked for two years as a lecturer at the Institute for Young Talent Development for Radio and Television .

Günter Herlt was Albert Norden's personal advisor in the SED Central Committee in 1964/1965 . From 1966 until the fall of the Berlin Wall he was a permanent employee of GDR television. In 1968 he became a member of the commentators group, then, 1971–1973, he was deputy editor-in-chief of the current camera . Between 1977 and 1979 Herlt worked as a correspondent for GDR television in the Federal Republic of Germany . In the 1980s he was the director of the television series Everyday in the West and moderated some editions of the program The Black Channel .

In 1968 Herlt received the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.
