Günter Oettel is a former German ski jumper .
Career
Oettel began his career at the Pobershau winter sports club . After good performances in national competitions, he was delegated to the performance center for SC Traktor Oberwiesenthal . As a member of the construction team, he won the bronze medal on the normal hill at the GDR championships in 1960 behind Veit Kühr and Harald Pfeffer .
In his first and only Four Hills Tournament in 1960/61 , Oettel performed well. After a 19th place in the opening jump on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he reached 11th place, which also made him the best individual result of the tour. In Innsbruck on the Bergiselschanze , Oettel landed in 15th place. He confirmed his good tour performance as 12th with another top 20 placement on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen . In the overall ranking he reached 12th place.
