Günter Patoczka

Günter Patoczka (born February 1, 1956 in Gmunden ; † November 30, 2015 in Ried im Innkreis ) was an Austrian painter and set designer .

Education and professional activity

The artist spent his childhood in Mettmach and studied from 1973 to 1977 at the Mozarteum stage design , costume and theater painting . After graduating, he worked as a set designer for Günther Schneider-Siemssen , at the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen , at the Schauspielhaus Wien , at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, at the Munich State Opera and at the Salzburg Marionette Theater . From 1984 he was a freelance visual artist.

He last lived in Mehrnbach and was a member of the professional association of fine artists of Upper Austria , the Innviertler Künstlergilde (since 1985) and the Salzkammergutgilde (since 1989). In the 2000s he took part in several symposia.

Patoczka dealt intensively with abstract painting on large screen formats, developed abstract miniature series on various topics and made pen drawings (Kubinesques) in various contexts. Patoczka had numerous solo exhibitions and participations in exhibitions at home and abroad.
