Joachim Straub

Joachim Wilhelm Alois Straub (born May 30, 1907 in Waldshut ; † July 2, 1995 in Waldshut-Tiengen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Joachim Straub was born the son of a district court director. After graduating from secondary school, he studied law at the universities of Freiburg and Heidelberg . In 1931 he founded a law firm in Waldshut together with his brother Karl Straub, where he practiced as a lawyer until 1939 . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

After the end of the war, Straub initially worked at the food office in Waldshut. He joined the CDU and was on 14 May 1945 by the French military government to district administrator of the district of Waldshut appointed. After his resignation, he left office on January 31, 1947. Afterwards he worked again as a lawyer in Waldshut. From 1948 to 1984 he was a district councilor for the Waldshut district. In the state elections in 1960 he was elected as a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , to which he belonged until 1964, through a direct mandate from the Waldshut constituency .

His son Peter Straub was also a member of the state parliament in Baden-Württemberg from 1984 to 2011 and was president of the state parliament from 1996 to 2011.
