Günter Röhser

Günter Röhser (born July 27, 1956 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber ) is a German Protestant theologian and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1975, Röhser studied Protestant theology in Erlangen , Heidelberg and Neuendettelsau until 1981 . From 1982 to 1985 he was taken on as head of studies at the Ecumenical Institute / student residence at Heidelberg University . Subsequently, from 1985 to 1987, he took over the position of vicar of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria in Rehau . After completing his doctorate in Heidelberg in 1986, Röhser was a student assistant at the Evang.-Luth from 1987 to 1990. Bayreuth seminary employed. After ordination in 1988 to the spiritual office, he was a DFG scholarship holder from 1990 to 1992 . Finally, from 1992 to 1994, he took a position as pastor and theological consultant at the Upper Church Council of the Bayreuth Church District and was also appointed as a lecturer for the Old and New Testaments at the University of Bamberg . After his habilitation in Heidelberg for New Testament theology in 1993, he was professor for the New Testament at the University of Siegen from 1994 to 1997 .

Finally, in 1997, Röhser was appointed university professor for the teaching and research area of ​​biblical studies with a focus on the New Testament at RWTH Aachen University. Since 2003 he has been teaching as professor for the New Testament at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn . In addition, Röhser was elected Dean of the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Bonn from 2008 to 2012 and from 2016 to 2017 .

His main research interests are religious conceptions of (biblical) antiquity / New Testament and ancient worldview, Pauline theology and questions of Bible translation and biblical hermeneutics .
