Günter Radden

Günter Radden (born July 11, 1934 ) is a German Anglist.

Life

In 1967 he obtained his Magister Artium in Hamburg in English, general linguistics and education . In 1967 he became a research assistant at the University of Hamburg. From 1968 to 1969 he was a lecturer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne . From 1969 to 1970 he had a scholarship at Indiana University . From 1970 to 1981 he was a research assistant at the University of Trier . From 1981 to 1982 he was a professor at the University of Siegen . From 1982 to 1999 he taught as a professor at the University of Hamburg . In 1985 he taught as visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley . From 1989 to 1990 he was visiting professor at the University of California, San Diego . Since 1993 he initiated an exchange with partner University of Warsaw . In 1995 he was visiting professor at the University of California, San Diego. In 1999 and 2008 he taught as visiting professor at Osaka Municipal University . In 2000 he was visiting professor at the Jagiellonian University . In 2001, 2003, and 2004 he was visiting professor at the University of Bergen . In 2002, 2006, 2012 he was visiting professor at the University of Debrecen . From 2003 to 2004 he was visiting professor at the University of Warsaw.

His focus is on cognitive linguistics, especially cognitive grammar, prepositions, metonymy, metaphor and motivation in language.
