Günter Waldorf , actually Günter Stessl (born March 2, 1924 in Graz , † October 31, 2012 in Graz) was an Austrian painter , draftsman and boxer.

Life

Günter Waldorf completed his training as a color lithographer and attended the master class for art and painting in Graz. His teachers included Alfred Wickenburg and Fritz Silberbauer .

After the Second World War he was Styrian boxing champion several times .

In 1953 he and other Styrian artists founded the artists' association Junge Gruppe in Weiz . In 1958 he was instrumental in founding the Forum Stadtpark in Graz, a center for modern art, literature and music. From 1960 he edited the magazine manuscripts with Alfred Kolleritsch . In 1966 he initiated the International Painting Weeks, an annual event organized by the Neue Galerie Graz .

He was married to the painter Elga Maly (1921–1989).
