Günther Bergmann (born March 21, 1965 in Kalkar ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2012 .

After graduating from high school in 1984, Bergmann did his military service in Pinneberg , Osnabrück and Kalkar . He then studied Political Science, Middle and Modern Eastern European History and Public Law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and graduated with a Magister Artium . He did his doctorate with a thesis on people of German origin in South America. He then worked at the international consulting firm agiplan in Mülheim an der Ruhr as a board assistant and employee in the field of marketing for Eastern Europe as well as board assistant and head of PR and communication at the construction company FC Trapp in Wesel . Since 1999 he has been working as a freelance consultant for PR and communication for companies, associations and institutions.

Bergmann joined the Junge Union in 1980 . There he was first deputy chairman, later chairman of the Kalkar city association and finally until 1993 deputy chairman in the Kleve district . In 1990 he was elected to the district executive committee of the CDU in Kleve. Since 2009 he has been chairman of the district association. From 1994 to 2014 Bergmann was a member of the Kalkar City Council, of which he had been parliamentary group chairman since 2004. Surprisingly, in the 2014 local elections in his constituency, he lost two votes to a competitor from Forum Kalkar. In the state elections in 2012 , Bergmann was the first candidate for the CDU in the Kleve II constituency . Despite the losses of his party, he was able to win the constituency with 39.2 percent of the first votes. In the state elections in 2017, he won 44.4% of the first votes and was again directly elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . There he is spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the petitions committee and a member of the Europe and International Affairs and Culture and Media committees. Bergmann is on the board of trustees of the NRW-Kunststiftung and represents the state of North Rhine- Westphalia at the KGRE of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
