Günther Hochgartz (born July 10, 1918 in Bocholt ; † October 10, 2005 ibid) was a German politician, Lord Mayor of Bocholt and NRW - member of the CDU state parliament .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and high school, Hochgartz completed an electrician apprenticeship .

On September 1, 1939, he was drafted into the army and experienced the end of the war in 1945 as a major and professional soldier . He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross , the German Cross in Gold and the Honorary Leaf Clasp of the Army.

After the end of the war, Hochgartz started his own business as an electrical salesman with his company G. Hochgartz, Lichtkraft- und Industrieanlagen and passed his master craftsman examination four years later . His independence lasted until 1979.

The Günther-Hochgartz-Ring was named after him in Bocholt. Furthermore, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Bocholt and received further awards, such as the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1974 , the Great Federal Cross of Merit in 1983 and the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . .
