Günther Murmann (born February 13, 1954 , † March 3, 2005 in Mallorca , Spain ) was a German automobile racing driver and team boss.

Career

Murmann entered the DTM in 1989 in a Ford from the Ringshausen team and came in 39th overall. In 1990 he drove with his own team in the DTM with a BMW M3 and finished 27th. He also drove in the Italian Touring Car Championship in 1990 and finished 27th. 1991 he drove in these two series, again with his own team, he finished 20th in the Italian Touring Car Championship.

As team manager, he entered the German Touring Car Championship in 1990 with his own team with two BMW M3s. For this he won the Diebels brewery as main sponsor. This season the driver was Murmann himself and in the second vehicle for the first two races Anton Goeser and for the remaining races Frank Schmickler . In 1991 he was back in the DTM with his team. Drivers were Christian Danner and Otto Rensing and, in a few races, Murmann himself. In 1992, he raced two BMW M3s, drivers were Thomas von Löwis , Fritz Kreutzpointner and Thomas Winkelhock .

Murmann died on March 3, 2005 in Mallorca .
