Günther Ofner (born December 20, 1956 in Rohr im Burgenland ) is an Austrian manager and currently a director of Flughafen Wien AG .

career

After graduating from high school in Güssing , Ofner studied law at the University of Vienna . Here he obtained his doctorate in 1981.

He held leading positions in the Political Academy of the ÖVP as well as the management of the Friedrich Funder Institute for journalist training and media research . Since 1981 he has been editor of the “Austrian Political Yearbook” with Andreas Khol .

In 1992 he switched to the Austrian energy industry and was, among other things, a board member of BEWAG , UTA Telekom AG and Burgenland Holding AG . For the EVN AG held from 2005 to 2011, the agendas in Albania and Macedonia. Since September 2011, he has held the position of Director of the Management Board ( CFO ) of Flughafen Wien AG together with Julian Jäger . Since 2015 he has also been President of the Supervisory Board of HYPO NOE Landesbank für Niederösterreich und Wien AG .

From 1986 to 2001 Ofner was a part-time university lecturer and lecturer at the University of Vienna focusing on the constitution, economy and social policy. Ofner has held the presidency of the Burgenland aid organization since 2000 . Ofner was a member of the location cluster group at the coalition negotiations for the 2017 ÖVP .

Since 1977 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Sängerschaft Waltharia Wien in the ÖCV

Ofner is the Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Austro Control air traffic control authority . After the resignation of Supervisory Board Chairman Werner Walch on December 31, 2019, he took over his function on an interim basis.

Honors

In June 2011 Günther Ofner was awarded the professional title “Professor” for outstanding performance in adult education by the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture . In 2017 Günther Ofner was awarded the Golden Commander's Cross of Honor for Services to the State of Lower Austria .

In 2018 he was named Manager of the Year in Burgenland by his home state .
