Günther Steinacker

Günther Steinacker (born November 25, 1926 in Eisleben ; † September 4, 2011 in Halle (Saale) ) was a Protestant pastor and co-founder of clinical pastoral training in the GDR .

After serving in the war and being a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union, the son of a forest official passed his Abitur in 1946 and studied theology in Berlin and Göttingen by 1951 . After the vicariate in Halle (Saale), he took up the parish office at the Pforta state school in 1954 . In order to prevent his work in the young community there, he and his family were forcibly expelled from the place in May 1958 at the instigation of the SED and FDJ . After a transitional period as a pastor in Bad Kösen, he was appointed as the state youth pastor of the church province of Saxony from 1959 to 1966based in Halle (Saale). In 1966 he took over the newly established pastorate in the new community of Halle-Neustadt . Active in church pastoral care and pastoral care training since 1973, he was appointed head of the newly opened pastoral care seminar in Halle (Saale) from 1978 to 1986 . Until 1989 he worked as a hospital chaplain at the Paul-Gerhardt-Stift in Wittenberg .

Steinacker died on September 4, 2011 in Halle.
