Güzelkent is a place on the Black Sea coast of Turkey , about 80 km west of the provincial capital Sinop . With its forests and landscapes, it connects the green , with the sea, i.e. with the blue . That is why the village is also called the beautiful village that connects the green with the blue ( Turkish : Yeşili Maviye Kavuşturan Güzelkent ). The village used to be known as Helaldi .

Güzelkent is a place in the district of Türkeli , which in turn is in the province of Sinop .

history

So far there is hardly any historical evidence of Güzelkent.

By merging the villages of Helaldi, Kes, Tacahmet , Yusuflu and the Emreli area, Güzelkent was founded on November 30, 1989. Hasan Göksu (who has since passed away) was elected mayor on July 3, 1990 . After a while, the villages of Tacahmet and Yusuflu separated from Güzelkent. In the next elections, Sakir Sari was elected mayor. During his time there were further changes, including: a. the number of inhabitants increased considerably, many new buildings were created and land prices rose dramatically. Under the successor Mayor Hüseyin Özcan, the site changed noticeably again.

climate

There is a Black Sea climate with large temperature differences between the summer and winter months. When the humidity is high, it usually rains at night.

vegetation

It is noticeable that Güzelkent is more forested in the eastern area. Even in the cold winter months, the fir and olive trees ensure the presence of the green color. Güzelkent is one of the most wooded places in the region.

economy

Around 70% of the population live in other European countries, so the number of inhabitants increases from around 1,000 to around 4,000 in the months of July to August. Due to the new buildings, the construction industry has seen enormous growth. This industry has now become an important source of income for the residents. Another source of income is fishing . During the fishing season, both amateurs and professional fishermen are out on their cutters . There are also plenty of anglers . The cooperative for fishermen and fishing companies supports the fishermen in their activities. Numerous restaurants, cafés, tea houses, supermarkets, bakeries, carpenters, joineries, textile and cable factories are further sources of income for the residents.

There is a primary / secondary school with 8 teachers, 8 classes and a total of z. Z. 248 students.

There is a health center directly opposite the school and there is a hospital in the district capital of Türkeli, 4 km away .
