The GEZE GmbH is a company for development and production of systems for door, window and safety technology. GEZE employs around 3,000 people at its headquarters in Leonberg and in the subsidiaries in Austria , France , Switzerland , United Kingdom , Italy , Scandinavia , Benelux , Spain (Iberia), Poland , China , United Arab Emirates , Hungary , Ukraine , South Africa , Singapore , Russia and Turkey . GEZE also operates its own production facilities in Leonberg, Tianjin ( People's Republic of China ) and Zrenjanin ( Serbia ). The company has been family-owned since it was founded.
history
GEZE GmbH began in 1863 when Friedrich Carl Bauer founded the “Baubeschätze Fabrik” and Georg Friedrich Vöster founded the “Vöster & Co turning shop” in Stuttgart. In 1898, Bauer's nephews started producing ski bindings to improve utilization in winter. The two companies merged in 1924.
In 1901, the company was renamed Gretsch & Co. In 1911, the production of fanlight openers, door closers and hold-open systems for doors and windows began. In 1928 fittings for traffic engineering were added. a. found use in the airship Graf Zeppelin. At the Olympic Games of 1936, the Olympic champions Christl Cranz and Franz Pfnür rode with GEZE Kandahar ski bindings. In 1938 the company employed 300 people.
In 1959, the company moved to Leonberg because the old factory facilities in Stuttgart-Feuerbach were no longer sufficient. In 1963 Reinhold Vöster took over the company management and Gretsch & Co employed almost 900 people. In 1968 Reinhold Vöster handed over his shares and the management to granddaughter Brigitte Vöster.
In 1980 the company was renamed GEZE GmbH, whereby the new name is based on the first two letters of the previous company name G retsch & C o. At the same time, production was concentrated on locking systems for doors and windows with automatic sliding and rotating door drives. In 1996 GEZE entered the Asian market and founded a plant in Tianjin, China. At the Bau trade fair in 1997, Geze presented the Slimdrive SL automatic sliding door drive, the height of which was reduced to 7 cm. In the same year, the subsidiary GEZE Service GmbH was founded with 60 employees, which is responsible for the assembly and maintenance of GEZE products.
In 1999 a new technical center was built on the company premises, and the subsidiary GEZE Sonderonstruktionen, which manufactured special solutions for sliding and revolving door systems, was established in Boxberg- Schweiger. By 2015 the number of subsidiaries rose to 31. To increase its development capacity, GEZE invested in the construction of a new, ultra-modern development center. On October 20, 2017, the inauguration took place in the presence of the Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Housing in Baden-Württemberg, the Leonberg Mayor and the GEZE management. With this investment, the specialist for door, window and security technology as well as building automation is once again committed to its headquarters in Leonberg and to the quality standards “made in Germany”. A new GEZE Academy is also planned.
The reference objects include the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, the German Historical Museum in Berlin, the Children's Science City in Dubai, the Madrid-Barajas Airport and the Kanyon Shopping Center in Istanbul.
The export quota is around 60%. The company holds almost 950 patents and patent applications in Germany and worldwide.
Product fields
- The door technology includes overhead door closers , floor springs , integrated door closers and sliding hardware systems for manual sliding elements .
- In the area of RWA and window technology , manual and electric fanlight opening systems , smoke and heat extraction systems (RWA) and hardware systems for large windows are manufactured.
- Automatic door systems find v. a. in shopfitting , in barrier-free construction and in traffic engineering. This includes sliding and revolving door drives as well as carousel, telescopic and special door systems.
- In the security technology that is SecuLogic rescue system available. Solutions for access control and the area of lock technology with self- locking panic locks also belong to this product area.
- The GEZE glass systems include the manual sliding wall system MSW and the integrated all-glass system IGG. MSW can be z. B. use to separate shop areas. With IGG, the profiles and the hardware system are invisibly integrated between the sides.
- Special constructions for the entrance area such as B. Revolving doors according to the wishes of the architects were manufactured in Boxberg-Schweigern from 1999 to 2015 and since then in Leonberg.
- The latest innovations are a building automation system and interface modules for integrating GEZE products into networking solutions that turn buildings into smart buildings.
- The GEZE seminars organize various employee and customer seminars for product training.
- The subsidiary GEZE Service offers service and maintenance contracts for GEZE products.
