Glacier (Engl. Glacier ) is a Hamburg rock band, composed of (former) members of other bands. Catharina Ruess is also a member of the band Peeptoes , Stefan Nielsen at Tigerbeat , Rick McPhail as a Tocotronic newcomer on guitar and Benny Ruess is an ex-member of Les Garcons . Sunny Vollherbst is also responsible for the sound of various Hamburg indie bands such as Tocotronic, Blumfeld and Jochen Distelmeyer .

They are characterized by a rather out-of-date style, influenced by bands such as ELO , Pink Floyd and Spiritualized as well as Sonic Youth , Radiohead or Pulp , which has walls of sound as well as the sonorous voice of Rick McPhail owes a hint of melancholy.

In 2006 her debut and concept album A Sunny Place For Shady People was released by Staatsakt , which is characterized by a nihilistic character in terms of content , but which is carried by very catchy melodies.

The new album has been available as a free download on the Internet since the end of September. The group has succeeded in winning the former Gladbeck hostage gangster Hans-Jürgen Rösner for press work. While in custody, he announced that he would place the band on the front pages of all major music magazines. Rösner literally: "If the Füllerfatzkes do not notice, then it bangs."
