GNU Common Lisp (GCL) is a free implementation of the Common Lisp programming language . The source stands partly under the GPL , partly under the LGPL , the binary - packages only under the GPL.
history
The origin is the Kyoto Common Lisp System, which was written in 1984 by Taiichi Yuasa and Masami Hagiya. In 1987 William Schelter started working on it, the name was now AKCL (Austin Kyoto Common Lisp). AKCL was published in 1994 as GNU Common Lisp. After the death of William Schelter in 2001, the project is continued by other developers.
Platforms
GCL is currently running at 11 GNU / Linux - architectures ( x86 , PowerPC , S / 390 , SPARC , ARM , Alpha , IA-64 , PA-RISC , m68k , MIPS , MIPSEL), Windows , SPARC Solaris and FreeBSD .
aims
Originally, GCL was only supposed to meet the CLtL1 standard , but it is now the declared aim to meet the Common Lisp ANSI standard.
