Primus Classic

The Primus Classic (initially Grote Prijs Raymond Impanis , from 2011 to 2013 GP Impanis-Van Petegem , from 2014 to 2017 Primus Classic Impanis-Van Petegem ) is a Belgian road bike race in the province of Flemish Brabant .

The one-day race was named after the two former Belgian racing cyclists Raymond Impanis and Peter Van Petegem . Later namesake is the sponsor Primus , a Belgian brewery . The race starts in Brakel , the birthplace of Raymond Impanis. The destination is in Haacht , the birthplace of Peter Van Petegem and the headquarters of Primus. The race is about 200 km long.

The race has been held annually since 1982 with one interruption between 1995 and 2010. It has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2011, initially in UCI category 1.2, since 2012 in category 1.1 and since 2015 in category 1.HC.

The record winner is Wiebren Veenstra from the Netherlands , who is the only one who has managed to win twice in a row. Since the new edition in 2011, no driver has won the race twice. The only German winner is André Greipel , who won the race in 2012.
