Gać ( German  Gacz or Gatsch ) is a district of Imielin in the powiat Bieruńsko-Lędziński of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is located between the city centers of Hołdunów (in the west) and Imielin in the east. It is divided into Nowa Gać in the south and Stara Gać in the north.

history

(Stara, old ) Gać was founded by 10 Reformed settlers from Hołdunów in the early 19th century, on the parceled out land of Imielin estate. Another parcelling took place south of this point in 1819. Nowa (Neu) Gać was founded by 21 settlers from Hołdunów. In 1830 the new independent parish was established. In 1878 there were 11 houses in Stara Gać and 21 houses in Nowa Gać.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on the future political affiliation of Upper Silesia in 1921, 122 voters voted for Germany, compared to 22 votes for Poland.

After the Polish annexation of Eastern Upper Silesia in 1922, Gać belonged to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . At that time he was incorporated with Hołdunów and after the war with Imielin.

In 1933 71.6% of the population were Protestant; Gać was one of only four parishes in the former Silesian Voivodeship without an Olsa region with an evangelical majority.
