Gabi Correa , full name Carlos Gabriel Correa Viana (born January 13, 1968 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.
Player career
society
The 1.77 meter tall midfielder Correa was part of the River Plate Montevideo squad from 1984 to 1988 . In 1989 and 1990 he was then under contract with league competitor Peñarol . In 1989 he came to three missions for the Aurinegros as part of the Copa Libertadores . He then moved to Europe, where he signed a contract with the Spanish second division club Real Murcia . Up to 1993 there were 84 appearances (one goal) in the Spanish Segunda División . In the following period he was still active in the 1993/94 season for the Spanish club Real Valladolid in the Primera División and played 20 first division games. There were other seasons with CP Mérida , FC Sevilla and Hércules CF .
National team
Correa took part in the U-20 South American Championship in 1987 with the U-20 selection of Uruguay . During the tournament he was used by coach Óscar Tabárez seven times (two goals). He was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team . Correa made his debut in Celeste on November 1, 1988. His 19th and last international match he completed on June 13, 1990. In total, he scored two international goals. During this time Correa took part in the 1990 World Cup, where he was used in the group game against Spain . He was also a member of the Uruguayan squad at the 1989 Copa America , which Uruguay finished in second place.

Coaching career
After his active career, Correa works as a trainer. He worked both as a youth coach and for a game of the first team in this role at Real Murcia . In the 2006/07 season he worked as a coach at AD Mar Menor-San Javier . In January 2008, he replaced Mariano Oyonarte at Caravaca CF in the role of coach. In the same year he was from the middle of the year coach at Lorca CF in Group II of the Segunda División B, but was dismissed there in November 2008 due to poor results and only one point ahead of his team on the relegation ranks. More coach stop was the youth team of Costa Cálida CF . In June 2011 Real Murcia CF SAD announced that Correa had been appointed coach of youth team A. He later rose to Segunda B with UCAM Murcia . In July 2014, he took over the coaching position of the Mar Menor CF team, which was competing in the Spanish Tercera División . He has been a trainer at Orihuela CF since July 2015 .
