Gabriel García Hernández (born February 16, 1974 in Salvatierra , Guanajuato ) is a retired Mexican football player in the position of striker .

Life

García began his career at Club Deportivo Guadalajara , for whom he made his debut in the Mexican Primera División in a home game against the UNAM Pumas on March 28, 199 , which was won 3-1 and in which he made the opening goal to 2-1 scored in the 58th minute.

His most successful season as a scorer was the Torneo Invierno 96 , in which he scored 13 goals, only two fewer than the top scorer of that season, Carlos Muñoz , of Puebla FC . In the games against América (5: 0), Morelia (4: 1) and Monterrey (3: 1), he had a brace each.

In the following Torneo Verano 97 García won the championship with Chivas, but could only score three goals in that season.

In the summer of 1998 he moved to the Monarcas Morelia, where he worked in two stages until the summer of 2002. In between, he played for the entire calendar year 2000 for the second division Alacranes de Durango . After his time at Morelia, he played for the second division clubs Cruz Azul Hidalgo and Trotamundos Tijuana . He also played for Real Club Deportivo España , with whom he won the Honduran football championship in the 2003 Apertura .

Today García runs a football school (Escuela de Chivas Salamanca) on behalf of his ex-club Chivas Guadalajara in Salamanca , Guanajuato, where García has lived since childhood.

Individual evidence

  1. In his autobiography (see web links) García reports that he won the Honduran championship with Real España in 2004 and then played for the Trotamundos. He seems to have lost a year here, as Real España won the championship of the Apertura 2003/04 (i.e. the championship of the second half of 2003) and the Trotamundos only existed for a half season (also in the Apertura 2003).
