Gabriele Beck-Busse

Gabriele Beck-Busse (* August 2, 1956 in Ludwigsburg as Gabriele Beck) is a German Romance studies and professor at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Life

Beck-Busse first studied Romance studies and mathematics at the University of Freiburg , later Romance studies and geography to become a teacher. After six semesters she moved to the University of Stuttgart . During her studies she learned Romanian, Italian and Portuguese. She completed her studies in 1981 with the first state examination.

In 1985 she received her doctorate in Stuttgart from Christian Rohrer with a dissertation on the temporal structure of verbs in French. From 1984 to 1986 she completed her legal clerkship in Berlin-Kreuzberg, which she completed in 1986 with the second state examination. She then worked as a research assistant (1987–1991) and research assistant (1991–1999) at the Free University of Berlin . In 1999 she completed her habilitation with a thesis on grammar “for women”. On the history of French and Italian grammar in Germany, England, France and Italy (1605–1850) . She then took on a visiting professorship (1999–2001) and a substitute professorship (2001–2002) at the Free University of Berlin, before accepting a position as professor for French, Italian and Portuguese linguistics in Marburg in February 2004.

Beck-Busses research focuses on linguistics and women's and gender studies.

She has been married since 1987.
