Gabriella Pape

Gabriella Pape (born May 31, 1963 in Hamburg ) is a German garden architect .

Pape first trained at the Lorenz von Ehren tree nursery and then went to England to study horticulture and garden architecture. She graduated from the largest botanical garden in the world, Kew Gardens in London , and received a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Greenwich .

During her studies, she met the garden historian Isabelle van Groeningen, with whom she is together on business and private. Pape and Van Groeningen won a gold medal and the title of Best in Show from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2000 for their display garden at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show . At the Chelsea Flower Show , the unofficial world championship for horticulture, she was the only German to win the Silver Gilt medal in 2007 for her design of a cave garden .

Since 2008, she and Isabelle van Groeningen have headed the private company Königliche Gartenakademie in Altensteinstrasse in Berlin-Dahlem and also appears in the media - including the RBB - as a gardening expert. The greenhouses of the Garden Academy were built in 1902/1903 for the Royal Gardening College at the Wildlife Park near Potsdam , when the latter also moved to Dahlem on the occasion of the transfer of the Botanical Garden to the opposite site.
