The Gagra ridge ( Georgian გაგრის ქედი ; Russian Гагрский хребет ) is a mountain range south of the main ridge of the Greater Caucasus in Abkhazia in the far northwest of Georgia and partly in the Russian region of Krasnodar .
The mountain range extends between the river valleys of Psou in the west and Bsipi in the east. The foothills of the mountain range in the south to the Black Sea coast . In the northeast, the Gagra ridge is bounded by the Msymta river valley in the Krasnodar Territory . The highest point is the 3257 m high Agepsta . The mountains consist mainly of limestone . The rivers Iupschara , Chaschupse and Sandripschi cut through the mountains in deep gorges. There are karst phenomena . The mountain range is covered with deciduous deciduous forests and conifers . Subalpine and alpine vegetation thrives at higher altitudes . A country road leads through the river valleys of Bsipi, Gega and Iupschara to Lake Riza . The Voronya cave is located in the Arabika massif .
