The Gaibach is a creek almost three kilometers long in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart , which flows from the right into the Main when coming from a west-northwest direction .
course
The Gaibach rises as a Kohlschlaggraben in the sandstone Spessart in the natural area 141.3 Southeastern Sandsteinspessart at the eastern foot of the Turmsteinhöhe ( 453 m above sea level ) in the area of the municipality of Rothenfels just under two kilometers southwest of Neustadt am Main at an altitude of about 417 m ü. NHN in the forest floor rudder stock wood .
The stream initially flows a good 100 m south-southeast through the forest, then crosses a forest path. About 230 m downstream, near the Marterwiese corridor, on its left-hand side, it is fed by a small forest brook emerging from the Marterwiesen fountain. The Kohlschlaggraben is also called Marterwiesgraben here . It now runs through a narrow valley in the Burgerwald , then crosses a cattle drive west of the Mittelrain and then meanders eastwards through the forest. The brook approaches the boundary of Neustadt am Main and now flows as Gaibach at a distance of 20–80 m east-south-east along the border on the southern slope of the Gaiberg ( 315 m above sea level ) along through a valley which has now narrowed even further. Here it is also referred to by some as a ditch .
The Gaibach now passes a small waterworks, crosses under the state road St 2315 leading from Rothenfels to Neustadt and finally flows into the Lower Main Valley in the natural area 141.03 Lohr-Rothenfelser Main Valley at an altitude of 142 m above sea level. NN at Mainkilometer 187.2 in the area of the community Neustadt north of a small sports field from the right into the Main flowing from the north-northwest.
