Galerius Peak

The Galerius Peak (English; Bulgarian връх Галерий wrach Galerij ) is a 1000  m high and icy mountain that forms the northern end of the Lassus Mountains on the Alexander I Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 3.28 km east-northeast of Vittoria Buttress , 7.4 km southeast of Mount Holt , 6 km southwest of Mount Braun and 3.53 km north of Mount Wilbye . The Iliew Glacier is to the west, the Palestrina Glacier to the north and the McManus Glacier to the east of it.

British scientists mapped it in 1971. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2017 after the Thrace- born Roman Emperor Galerius (250-311), who initiated the end of the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire in 311 with his Edict of Tolerance .
