Gallium (III) nitrate can be obtained by dissolving gallium or gallium (III) oxide in nitric acid and drying the separated hydrate at 40 ° C.

use

Gallium (III) nitrate is used in medicine to treat hypercalcemia in cancer treatment. It acts as a calcium absorption inhibitor, which promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in bones and potentially also the collagen synthesis.
