The Gandegghütte is a mountain hut in the summer ski area of Zermatt (Switzerland).
location
With the height of 3030 m above sea level. M. it is exactly 100 m higher than the Trockener Steg cable car station . The hut itself lies on a ridge that separates the glacier ice of the Upper Theodul Glacier in the west from the Lower Theodul Glacier in the east. From the hut you have a beautiful view of the Matterhorn , the Breithorn (Zermatt) and the Monte Rosa .

The most important starting point is the Trockener Steg cable car station, from which the hut can be reached in around 30 minutes. The way from the Furi and Rotenboden stations is significantly longer at just under three hours. Crossings are possible to the Hörnlihütte (4 hours) to the Monte-Rosa-Hütte (5 hours) and to the Rifugio Teodulo (1 hour). Summit destinations that can be reached from the Gandegghütte are the Klein Matterhorn , the Breithorn and the Testa Grigia .
history
The hut, built in 1885, used to serve as a food store or a primitive emergency station. In 1964 this first hut was replaced by a new building. Today it focuses on tourism . During the winter season it serves as a base for skiers, overnight stays are not possible during this time.
